What is the difference between servo and stepper controlled wire cutting machines

2022 07/22

Some time ago, we talked about the difference between servo control and stepping control of wire cutting machine tools, which are the difference in low frequency characteristics and the difference in torque frequency characteristics. Today we will talk about the difference between servo control and stepping control of wire cutting machine tools. place.
3. Different operating performance

Stepping wire cutting machine tools generally use open-loop control. When the frequency of wire cutting in the middle is too high, the load is too large, and the speed is too high when stopped, the middle wire is prone to lost steps or overshoot. Servo wire cutting machine tools rarely have these phenomena, because the servo wire cutting machine tool is closed-loop control, and the driver of the machine tool directly samples the feedback signal of the motor encoder, so that there is little lost step or overshoot.

Fourth, the speed response performance is different

Compared with the acceleration performance of the stepping wire cutting machine and the servo wire cutting machine, it takes 200 to 400 milliseconds for the stepping type to accelerate from standstill to the working speed, while the servo machine tool only needs a few milliseconds to accelerate from standstill to its rated speed. (Panasonic AC servo motor is taken as an example here). It can be seen from this that the servo type medium wire travel is more suitable for the control occasions that require quick start and stop.
